Several swimmers and divers from Davidson, Baker and Murphy high schools earned qualifying times at last weekend’s South Sectional meet to advance to the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s state swim and dive championship meet on Nov. 29-Dec. 1 at Auburn University.
Qualifying in individual events were: Morgan Mangum of Baker; Calvin Bylinowski, Caroline Herndon, Noah Latolais, Ignatio Salas, Caitlyn Smith, Daniel Smithson, Garrett Yarbrough and Cece York of Davidson; and Sallie Herndon and Charleston Webb of Murphy.
Relay teams from Davidson and Baker also qualified for the state meet.
In diving, Davidson’s Parker Inman won the 6A/7A section meet on the boys’ side, with teammate Charlie Bracewell placing second. Twin sisters Cameron and Mallory Wilson of Davidson finished second and third in the 6A/7A girls’ competition. All four advance to the state meet.
