More than 220 videos were submitted from 27 schools in this year’s MCPSS Film Festival, which culminated with an awards ceremony at Murphy High School’s auditorium last month.
Darwin Singleton served as the ceremony’s emcee at the ceremony, where the winning film makers in the 29 categories were announced, and attendees were treated to a full screening of the four films winning Best in Show, as well as a highlight reel of submitted bloopers and outtakes.
Those Best in Show winners were:
- Lilly Grace Bolton and Lallie Hays of Griggs Elementary for “A Tour of Mobile”
- Sarah Sims of Dunbar Magnet for “Code Red”
- Amanda Watson of Baker High School for “After the Bell Rings”
- Justin Tolbert, Emma Clark and Sara Shahin of Baker High in the Teachers category for “Doppleganger”
Winners and runners-up in elementary, middle, high school and teacher divisions were also selected in the following categories: comedy, commercials, dance (high school only), documentary, drama, how-to, music, and news.
The Department of Instructional Technology and mcpssTV created the film festival three years ago to provide a platform for showcasing student and teacher talent and creativity.
