Mobile County Public Schools students raised more money than any other district in Alabama in the annual Jump Rope for Heart fundraising event.
Students raised a total of $81,499.
That is “absolutely incredible,” according to Meghan Austin, Youth Market Director for the American Heart Association.
Each year, local schools participate in Jump Rope for Heart, raising money from sponsors as they promise to jump rope. Through the event, students learn the importance of healthy activities – such as exercise.
From participating schools, the American Heart Association randomly selected two schools to receive gift cards. Ella Grant Elementary in Prichard will receive $100 and Council Traditional School in Mobile $50.
