Theodore running back La’Mical Perine was named the 7A Back of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association, which announced its postseason football awards this week.
Perine, a senior who has committed to the University of Florida, was also chosen as a member of the ASWA’s Super 12, a selection of the top 12 players in the state regardless of position.
Perine rushed 240 times for 1,667 yards and 14 touchdowns this season for the Bobcats, who advanced to the 7A state playoffs under coach Eric Collier.
“La’Mical is a fine young man. His future is bright,” Collier said of Perine. “I look for great things from him. A lot of coaches don’t get an opportunity to coach a player like him. He’s a great student and a great example for our kids at Theodore.”
